Lucas studied civil engineering in Brazil. Since jobs were scarce, he immigrated to New York City in 2001 where he worked as a bartender at the Odeon, a maitre d’ at Pulino’s, and a manager at Morandi. When he and his family moved out to Seattle, he did a brief stint at Place Pigalle before becoming the General Manager at Tilth, where he worked for two years before becoming manager at Rione XIII and then Tavolàta Capitol Hill.

Brown rice pasta with whatever I find in the fridge.

Best Meal Ever

On my first visit to Washington State, to meet my wife’s family. We had fried oysters that we harvested on Hood Canal, venison steaks that my brother in law had shot, and vegetables from my father in law’s garden. I provided the entertainment that night by, not knowing what rhubarb was, heaping a big scoop of raw pie filling on my plate.
