Thom started in restaurants when he was 15 and continued to work in the business even while he pursued a BFA in journalism from Western Illinois. He has lived in West Africa and Barcelona and eventually graduated from L'Academie de Cuisine. After a stint working as a sous chef for Central Michel Richard, Thom moved back to Seattle to work as chef for Red Cow and he is now running the Ballard Pizza Co. empire.
