Exciting times: the second edition of Tavolàta is now open on Capitol Hill! It’s situated in a great spot at the corner of Pike and Summit at 501 East Pike Street, serving all the favorites in a cozy, modern space from 5pm to 11pm every day.
We love Tavolàta, the nine year-old big brother of the restaurant group, and we’re so excited to open a second location. In some ways, Tavolàta has come to uniquely represent what we’re all about: coming together over great food. The restaurant is named for its long communal table, a place where people can gather and grow closer over food and drink—we’re into that.
The new space is in a great old building, built back in 1925. The restaurant has been decked out with a combination of modern and warm design touches: exposed cement and gray tile plus reclaimed wood and tons of windows. Capitol Hill’s tavolàta (that big table we love so much) is made from a huge 16-foot slab of live-edge maple that came from up near Lake Whatcom. There’s seating for 55 in the restaurant, with room for another 20 in the bar area—and a patio for 25 is in the works.
The menu will be similar at both locations, with all the all-stars (rigatoni, spaghetti, tonarelli…) plus seasonal mains and vegetable sides. A couple summertime stars are the roasted beets with ricotta, grilled stone fruit, basil, and sherry vinegar and corn on the cob with bottarga and jalapeno. There are also small plates to start a meal, like Hamachi crudo with Parma ham, Calabrian chili, and orange, or bruschetta with house-made lardo and fava beans or chicken liver spread, hazelnuts, and cherries. Then hearty, simple mains, like Prime flank steak with arugula, bagna cauda, and Parmigiano-Reggiano or a whole grilled fish with lemon and herbs.
Wines will hail from Italy and the Pacific Northwest, and a mix of local and imported beers will be available on tap and by the bottle.
The restaurant is open daily from 5pm to 11pm, with happy hour nightly in the bar until 7pm. For reservations, call 206.420.8355 or book online.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
